Blog EntryDon't feed these to your Dog and Why...Nov 18, '07 2:11 PM
for everyone

These 7 things should never make it

to your dogs dish...

Alcohol

Depresses brain function

and can cause comas!

Chocolate

Contains a Chemical called

Theobromine,

a mere 3 ounces of Dark Chocolate

can bring on vomiting,

more can be fatal!

Garlic

Breaks down your dogs red blood cells

causing anemia, and eventually kidney failure!

Grapes and Raisins

Causes Renal failure!

Coffee

The Methylxanthine in it

causes increased heart rate

and seizures!

Macadamia Nuts

Just a few can cause tremors

and paralysis in the

hind legs!

Onions

Causes Cumulative (builds up and stays),

damage to the dogs Hemoglobin,

making even little "tastes" even more dangerous

than if it ate an entire Onion Bulb!

Keep Fido Safe and Happy!

Buy him or her only the best

doggie treats and goodies

for their sake and yours!

Thanks!

These facts came from a recent

edition (Oct., 2007)

National Geographic article.

More importantly .... DON'T feed your dog 'dog food' you can buy from the supermarkets. THIS is why most dogs have short lives and ill health.

Dogs should be eating raw meat and raw bones as the BULK of their diet. You can buy good kibble for them from the vets and other good animal supplies stores but avoid the supermarket 'pellets' like the plague.

Tinned food should be banned but of course they make too much profit from it.

The main reason 'dog food' is NOT good for your dog is because it is NOT RAW! In their natural state dogs do not cook their food over a fire. They eat it raw. For optimum health a dog should be eating RAW foods as a MAJORITY of their diet.

LOL While I agree totally with you on this Megan, I have to say,
I can't afford meat for myself let alone my Loverly Puppy.
I've been feeding him Purina Dog Chow though his whole life
and he's almost 12 (Feb 28th), and never been sick a day in his life.

I do add raw meat and he's always got real bones on hand as well as
the rawhide chews and pig ears which are all dried but not cooked.

For his size he's already near his life expectancy.
My animals almost always out live that "expectancy" point.
In nature more than likely he wouldn't be alive as he would have been
beaten off now by a younger family member who wanted his position of pack leader.

(He's a Hybrid 1/2 wolf, half Siberian husky)...

My critters almost always have a way better life than myself :o)
I do love animals !!!

Great information! I knew some of it but had no idea of the rest. Something I can pass on to my daughter who has 4 dogs , which she is very careful with anyhow, but may not know all of this.

they may know someone too who doesn't know :O)

I must have a strange dog. Ace, (1/2 Brittany, 1/2 Springer ) is 15 this year and has eaten chocolate, onions, pickles, (fast food hamburgers) cat food, loves frozen grapes in the summer, oatmeal raisin cookies (any cookies for that matter, his fav being choc chip, and his fav holiday is Christmas = cookies!) and garlic. He eats dog chow and cheap treat/bones and anything off the dinner table we give him. I have heard of all of this, but he is living proof that it doesn't 'pertain' to him! lol. If you visit my site, there are pics of him.
